When Adam and I started our small Etsy shop we had to come up with a name that meant something. I didn’t just want a cute name I wanted something that we could wholeheartedly say we believe in. The word Grace just kept coming to me…
Basically, Grace is defined as the unmerited favor of God. It means you get something you don’t deserve. God sent his only son to earth to die for our sins. With this action we are saved from our sin if only we believe and accept that gift. Say what!?!
When I say that Adam and I have been through a lot … I really mean it. We have tested all the vows said on our wedding day. We both were pretty early to our adult journey with faith but one thing was clear … our lives had been full of Grace. Grace with each other and Grace from God. When I look at my past I see plenty of things that I am not proud of but God nonetheless gifted me with his Grace and has taken me to places and shown me things that I (in human eyes) probably don’t deserve. How amazing is that!
Because of all that I have stated above I just knew that the name of our little business had to be The Graced Woodshop. It was so fitting … It was our way to thank God for all the Grace he had given to us and also a way to help remind us that none of this is possible without God’s Grace and Grace for each other.
Adam and I want the items that we make and sell to provide function, show God’s light, and spark conversation. In a world full of gadgets and gizmos we wanted to make sure that items such as our napkin holder and glue gun holders have a real function and not something that just takes up space. We wanted our signs to show god light or at least make you laugh or smile. The huge success of our Resurrection Tomb set was a big surprise to us. We had some people say that it has started conversations and that it was something they wanted to leave up all year as a reminder to what God can do.
To date we have made over 1220 sales and it continues to grow. These sales have helped buy groceries when needed, fund a family vacation, and even a few well deserved date nights! We are so thankful for everyone that has supported us. We genuinely hope that everyone loves the items that they bought from us.
Our little shop has had some high highs and some serious lows. I know without a doubt the highest highs are at the hand of God. There is no way that we could have even imagined the highs that we have experienced. Those had to be orchestrated from up above. I am also thankful for the lows as they have taught us to take a breath and reevaluate and make a different choice.
I hope that everyone gets to experience the grace that is given from God just as we have and our shop has…
God Bless
